“The spiritual journey happens in the context of life, not separate from it.”
- Lucy Abbott Tucker
Practitioners in my field use many different words to describe our work: spiritual direction/guidance/ mentorship/ companioning. None of these feel quite accurate.
A Council describes a group of individuals come together for a common purpose about which they are passionate. Council members each bring their own special wisdom to the group. I consider myself one member of a Council, together with your heart, mind, body, soul — and, if it is within your cosmology, the ancestors, spirit guides, and Source/God — working towards deepening your experience with and relationship to the Sacred.

Usually once a month. This allows time for integration. There may be times the seeker wishes to meet more frequently. This can be discussed if necessary.

I work on a sliding scale, between $60–100. I ask that those who are able, please pay on the higher end of the scale to help me support those who cannot. Most clients tend to pay $80.

At this time, I meet all clients over Zoom.

In large part this is up to you. You set the agenda for our conversation. I might engage a variety of tools to help you listen/focus/discern, including: active and deep listening; reflecting back so that you can hear yourself; asking deepening questions; facilitating dialogue between different parts of yourself; facilitating dreamwork or focusing work (using the body to discern what’s happening inside); suggesting some journaling or art practices to help you open up a question further for yourself, etc.

Therapy. Advice. Problem-solving.

No. Some clients I work with practice within a particular faith tradition and want to deepen a relationship with Source/God/Spirit, and some chafe against organized religion and the word “God” and don’t find the concept useful. Most are somewhere in between. I welcome sitting in companionship with people of any faith, or none at all. All I ask of you is a desire and commitment to deepen and expand your own experience of the spiritual dimensions of being human, whatever that looks like for you.

I have been a lifelong seeker. I was raised in the Episcopal church. I spent most of my late teens and 20s as a self-described atheist/agnostic who loved visiting cathedrals. Much of my 30s was lived out in Buddhist spaces. My spiritual life really began to flourish in my 40s in the Unitarian Universalist church. It was there that I joined my first Women's Sacred Circle and was introduced to my current path, which is influenced and shaped by animistic, earth-honoring traditions, with a special fondness for neo-Celtic expressions of this spiritual path.

I do not proselytize for any particular religion or religious practice. You set the agenda for our work together. Spiritual counciling is not about me advising you or providing solutions to whatever you are working through. It is not about me at all. My role is to help you learn to listen to your Self, your Soul, your Source. My role is to hold space for you to discern answers for yourself. My work is to support you to put your attention on the Sacred and to discern your intention for living from that place.

As someone who has lived with chronic pain, I have a personal understanding of that experience that some might find valuable.
I have practice in dreamwork and welcome dreams in spiritual counciling, though my approach is neither psychological nor divinatory. I don’t tell you what your dreams means, but rather ask questions that will help you unpack meaning for yourself.
I have traveled the long arc of perimenopause and menopause and hold generous space for those going through that wild ride, and all those who find themselves at the initiatory threshold of mid-life.

I am happy to offer a complimentary, free, initial session to help us discern whether we are a good fit, as well as to help you understand better what spiritual counciling might offer you.

I completed a year-long practicum in Spiritual Direction at Boston College School of Theology. I earned a Certificate in Pastoral Care from Andover Newton Theological School (now at Yale Divinity School). I completed a two-year Certificate Program in Spiritual Guidance at the Rowe Unitarian Universalist Conference Center. I’ve been a practicing spiritual councilor since January 2018.
I am a member of and follow the ethical guidelines created by Spiritual Directors International. I engage in both one-on-one and group supervision every month and meet with my own spiritual guide.
